I issue a call to all of my sisters to share a gift and tell the environmental movement to #Touch the Ground!
When Al Gore took his Climate Reality training to Johannesburg and told the Global South that the answer to climate change was renewable energy, Black women resoundingly said okay, now Touch the Ground! Case in point is when Wangari Maathi and the Greenbelt movement changed the climate of a whole country with reforestation. Other Sisters from Kenya told the World Bank to remove large dam projects so we can #Touch the ground!
Here in the United States, when our children suffer with asthma 5 times more than the national average, I say #touch the ground. Plant a hedge around our houses and remove the toxins so our babies can breathe. While we are waiting for policies to change, while we are waiting for new people in office and for coal plants to close down, I say #Touch the ground. Use mushrooms to clean the soil; and put them in a croker sack to purify the water;
Mother Nature has all we need to care for ourselves and heal our communities. Let’s reclaim our ancestral remedies for polluted environments. I am leading a delegation to Cuba so we can learn how from people who have live that reality in the last untouched ecosystem in this hemisphere. We will return and teach to communities who need the information most. I have raised scholarships for others and now I need your support. I need your help so Sisters all over the country can learn how to #Touch the Ground and heal our communities. I need $1600 by June 10th so I can attend the tour that I have helped others to participate in. Will you help me help others #Touch the Ground?
You may give HERE to ensure I make the trip and can pay expected gratuities. Your gift allows our group to be a blessing to our brothers and sisters in Cuba!
#Touch the Ground!
